In 1989, while working at a church, a suggestion from the lead pastor sparked a new path. The pastor, who had once worked as a roofing estimator, encouraged the founder to explore the roofing industry as a means to “pay the bills.”
With the intention of a short-term stint, the founder joined a local roofing company as an estimator. The plan was to stay for two years at most and then transition into full-time ministry.
Fast forward 32 years, and the founder is still deeply involved in the roofing industry. The satisfaction derived from contracting work, the connection to the community, and the ability to leave a lasting legacy proved to be incredibly fulfilling. Although a full-time career in ministry never materialized, the founder’s dedication to service found a new outlet.
Over the years, the roofing company flourished, nurturing strong relationships with customers, employees, and vendors. In 1995, the founder took a leap of faith and established Sierra Roofing Contractor, a testament to their commitment to the craft.
